First of all , I deeply welcome who is interested in visiting my page .
In fact, Yesterday afternoon, when I was looking for some documents in my own laptop , suddenly I found an article that I wrote for the English school newspaper 2 years ago when I was in the English school . The article was about my flight to the US three years ago. therefore, I would like to share it with you in this forum. Actually, it bring lots memories from those lovely passed days. Once i read it, makes remember those days and laugh . I will leave you with that , on the other hand , I wish from anyone to write the truly reaction about it ,
wish you a nice time with it
There are many events have taken place in my life. However, the one that is not forgettable to me was when I decided to complete my education and get my degrees from the U.S.A. It was a big movement in my life.
I got accepted in one of the U.S. Universities and was given a scholarship by the government ministry for higher education .First, I was wondering how I could get along with Americans and deal with them . The biggest part is turning onto a new life there . What I was wondering about that was how Americans deal with foreigners, if they like them or not.
According to what I have seen and heard on T.V was that Americans are really nice people. On the other hand, what I have watched in movies was a lot of crimes, arresting and many fearful things, which made me really get confused about America. Before I was given the scholarship, I was working at one of the ministries , so there was a lot of time for me to think about going to the U.S.
Afterwords, I gathered a lot of information about education, life and everything in the U.S. Since I got confused about Americans, I asked a friend of mine about them. He used to fly almost all over the world and has friends who do that, too. When I asked him about the U.S. his response was, "go without hesitating; the opportunity just comes once your life, don't miss it". Also, he told me many good things about people in America and how easily they get along with others whether they are Americans or not and they are very helpful to others. Because of what I had been told, I felt comfortable and determined to go the U.S.
A week before our trip to the U.S.A, I arranged everything for flying like gathering documents, flight tickets and all the papers I needed. There was a friend of mine who would travel with me and also who would not speak English at all and counted on me in everything. Those made me feel like I was flying by myself even though he was with me. In those days I was speaking English a little bit like introducing myself and giving a little information about that, but to be honest, I was afraid of how to deal with people in Airports, especially my friend who could not help me if I didn't know what to say to get our documents done.
When the time came to fly, my friend and I said farewell to our families and were ready to travel. Our trip was going through three Airports, which meant that we had to be in three airplanes to get in the U.S. Everything was all right in the Airports in my country till we got to the international airports where we had to depend on ourselves which meant no one would help us if we did not know how to deal with others in the Airports. We got in the U.S Airlines and got the seats that were not belonging to us. Before we stayed on these seats, we had known that we weren't on our right seats, so we just gave to try and waited to be helped.
Afterwords, we were told that we were not in our exact seats and we had to change, so we did that and sat down in our exact seats. The airplane took off and we all knew that all travelers must get served. We were asked what we liked to eat and drink.
Here is the funniest part. Before we traveled, we had a few magic sentences that would help us do our things. We divided them into three parts. The first part was when we got asked about any thing or how we like something, our responses were ready by saying three sentences, do not know, it is wonderful, or thank you very much. The second part was when we got asked about food, our response must be water, cheese sandwich or tea. The third part was when we got a ride whether by taking taxicab, bus, other transportation to go to the hotel, our questions should be go to this address, how much, and we want a room to sleep. Those magic sentences were useful sentences till we knew how to speak English.
After we were served our meals, we had them and practiced the three parts of the magic sentences. The flight took around 13 hours to arrive at Washington Dallas in the US. We got off in Washington D.C. and completed our documents. After that, we got out of the airport and took a taxicab, and we used our magic sentences. The taxicab took us to hotel. We were extremely happy that we had been understood by using the magic sentences.
We spent the first day in D.C and completed our papers from the Embassy and then each one of us flew to his state where he would study and live. Here each one of us would depend on himself no one would help him. We flew and both of us were really afraid of what was going to happen to us, but everything went well and we now remember our feelings from those days and laugh. Since those days, we have been talking about our adventure which was traveling by ourselves without knowing any soul in the U.S.A.
Overall, we are really proud of ourselves that we made this big adventure and we learned from our experience traveling by ourselves without getting any help from anybody.
